We recently closed out the 2014 fiscal year and took a moment to reflect on some of the highlights of the past year and would like to share them with you. Thanks to the tremendous support of our generous donors and volunteers, we:
- Collected 205 bags of trash from streets, parks, and streams throughout Arlington through our service projects.
- Improved the habitat for native species by removing truckloads of invasive plants from local parks and streams.
- Engaged more than 2,000 Arlington students in hands-on activities connected to stewardship of our planet through our environmental programs in schools.
- Trained 38 Energy Masters volunteers in energy efficiency, water conservation and weatherization techniques. (You, too, can become an Energy Master. Learn more!)
- Helped to improve the comfort of the homes of 147 families in Arlington who are living in affordable housing developments.
- Improved the tree canopy in Arlington by planting 296 trees through the Arlington County Tree Canopy Fund.
Through these efforts, our volunteers racked up more than 2,600 service hours. Way to go!
Many, many thanks to all of our members, donors and volunteers for a great year!
There is still so much more to be done. If you’d like to contribute to our work in making Arlington a more sustainable community, sign-up to volunteer with EcoAction Arlington, or become a member or sponsor today!
