Northern’ Virginia Solar Home Tour
Two buildings located at 706 North Ivy Street, Arlington (two blocks from the Clarendon Metro stop (Orange/Silver line))
In conjunction with the American Solar Energy Society (ASES) national solar home tour, there will two buildings open for view North Arlington, VA that are essentially off-the-grid.
1. Small office building in rear with solar electric roofing shingles, small wind turbine both tied to a web-enabled battery bank, solar daylighting, superinsulated windows, solar-driven ceiling fan, direct-exchange HVAC system, and LED lighting.
2. Home with solar water heating, electrochromic glass, direct-exchange geothermal heat pump, multi-module type solar photovoltaics (electric) system tied to a large
battery bank, among many other energy efficiency applications.
There will be three unique solar generation systems from various companies On the driveway, an education demo van with solar and wind charging an advanced carbon-supercapacitor battery bank to run a DVD player and large all-weather video screen (used for area educational events).
