Are you concerned about the declining tree canopy in Arlington?
We are too! That’s why EcoAction Arlington, through the Tree Canopy Fund, has facilitated the planting of more than 1,200 trees in yards and on condo association properties where the canopy has been drastically impacted by intense development.
What is the Tree Canopy Fund program?
It’s an effort that was launched after Arlington County Board approval in 2007‘ with the goals of arresting the decline and, restoring and increasing the County’s tree cover over time.’ Administered by EcoAction Arlington and the Arlington County Urban Forestry Commission (UFC), the fund provides grants to individuals and community groups to plant and maintain trees on private property.
It means that you, as an individual,’ or as a part of one of the following groups, can apply to receive trees through the fund at no cost to you:
- Civic and homeowner associations
- Community nonprofit organizations
- Civic service clubs
- School-related groups
- Ad hoc neighborhood groups
