Non-Profit and Community Service
- Arlington Food Assistance Center ‘“ Plot Against Hunger Program
The Plot Against Hunger program of the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) encourages local gardeners and farmers to grow and donate fresh produce for Arlington residents in need. Our volunteers help the AFAC food pantry by gardening, harvesting crops at local farms and orchards, and picking up donations at local farmers markets. “Plot” helps educate the community on the nutritional, environmental and social benefits of gardening through demonstration gardens, presentations, and tasting demonstrations at AFAC distribution sites. Stop by our table to pick up free seeds and learn how to become involved. - Emmanuel Presbyterian Church
Emmanuel Presbyterian Church’s booth will provide information about why people should be good steward’s of God’s creation and how the beauty of the creation prompts us to worship God. - Virginia Cooperative Extension ‘“ Master Food Volunteers
Master Food Volunteers combine their love of cooking, nutrition, physical activity with helping others. The Master Food Volunteer Program helps Extension reach more Virginians with up-to-date, research-based knowledge on food preparation, nutrition, food safety, and physical activity.
