Come to our 5th Annual Green Living Expo on Saturday, April 26th, 10 a.m.’ to 4 p.m. at George Mason University’s Founders Hall, 3351 Fairfax Drive, to explore alternative transportation options. Covering everything from biking to walking and public transportation, you’ll learn all of the tricks of the trade to help you reduce your use of single-occupancy vehicles. - Arlington’s Car -Free Diet
Need more information about going car-free or car-lite? Arlington’s Car-Free Diet booth has literature on various transit options and other special promotions. Pledge to try alternative transportation and test your transportation knowledge on the Trivia Wheel for a small gift!
- Arlington Street Car Now
Arlington Streetcar NOW is a group of local citizens committed to seeing Arlington County continue to invest in high quality transit through the installation of a modern streetcar network.’ The Columbia Pike streetcar line is beginning to revitalize the Pike and is attracting development’ that can preserve the area’s stock of affordable housing.
- BikeArlington
BikeArlington is an effort to build on an existing partnership between citizens, businesses and local government in Arlington County, Virginia, to encourage more people to bike more often, whether they’re commuting, shopping, or just having fun.
- EnviroCAB
enviroCAB believes that taxi cab users should be able to ride in an environmentally sustainable taxicab. ‘ If you want to travel in a cab that produces substantially less emissions, you should be able to! And an enviroCAB ‘ is estimated to produce 60% less emissions than standard cabs now operating in Arlington.
- Mobile Commuter Store
Operated by Arlington County Commuter Services, The Commuter Store’®, Mobile Commuter Store, and CommuterDirect.com’® provide one-stop shopping for Metro, VRE, MARC, Circulator, and DASH fares. Printed bus schedules and other free publications are available. Courteous staff will assist you in planning the best way to travel, whether by bus, rail, carpool, vanpool, or bicycle.
- Mason Parking and Transportation
Parking Services at George Mason University has been growing in size, complexity, and parking options for many years. Changing where segments of the campus community are allowed to park, constructing parking decks improving transit and education outreach are just a few of the methods to help alleviate the parking issues that are heard not only at George Mason, but across almost every campus in the country. George Mason has contracted with experts in the parking industry for over 15 years and currently contracted with Standard Parking Corporation since 2005 to manage the ever increasing demands of parking on George Mason’s growing campuses located throughout northern Virginia.
- Phoenix Bikes
Phoenix Bikes provides affordable bikes and bike repair services to the community while serving as a youth leadership program. Youth mechanics will be on hand in the DIY area to demonstrate various bike repairs.
- WalkArlington
WalkArlington is an initiative of Arlington County, Virginia, where people have many options for moving about their community. WalkArlington’s focus is on walking. By partnering with citizens, businesses, and County departments to promote the health, environmental, commuter, financial, and community-building benefits of walking, WalkArlington strives to “get more people walking more of the time. - Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority
Metrobus serves the nation’s capital 24 hours a day, seven days a week with 1,500 buses. Metrorail and Metrobus serve a population of 5 million within a 1,500-square mile jurisdiction. Metro began its paratransit service, MetroAccess, in 1994; it provides about 2.3 million trips per year.
