Going Solar: A How-To Workshop, Part 1 of 2

Thinking about going solar, but don’t know where to start? This free workshop for homeowners will provide an introduction to solar power use in the home and will feature a discussion of:
- how solar power works
- solar equipment
- roof area and direction requirements for installing solar
- costs and incentives
- solar cooperative basics
Who should attend?
Homeowners, and their neighbors, who:
- are curious about solar, how it works, the benefits of going solar, etc.
- have been considering going solar, but need help figuring out where to start.
(Co-op participation is restricted to Arlington County, but others are welcome to participate in the workshops.)
The session will include time for Q&A with solar experts.
This workshop is part of a local, grass roots effort organized by EcoAction Arlington , the Arlington Initiative to Rethink Energy (AIRE) and Virginia SUN (a program of Community Power Network). It’s part of a two-part series, and participants may attend either or both parts.

Going Solar: A How-To Workshop, Part 2 of 2
This workshop is intended for those who are interested in potentially joining a solar co-op. ‘ Participants will learn about:
- the benefits of going solar as a group.
- discounts available based on group purchasing power by going through a single installer. (By going solar as a group, ‘ ‘ participants will save up to 30% off the cost of a solar electricity system!).
- the support available to guide homeowners through the process of going solar.
Who should attend?
Homeowners, and their neighbors, who:
- are ready to go solar (or are on the verge) and want to learn more about the benefits of the co-op approach
- are interested in joining a solar co-op
