Every day, we make choices that affect the health of our environment. But there are several major “kitchen table” decisions—such as what car we buy, how we keep our homes comfortable, how we heat our water, and how we cook our food—with outsize impacts that can last decades. The “electrify everything” strategy aims to help people make the switch from fossil fuel-dependent homes and vehicles to those that run on clean electricity. The strategy is a linchpin of the climate change provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), many of which take effect in 2023.
The local chapter of Rewiring America, a climate change nonprofit, will lay out the case for electrification, address common barriers to it, and explain how the financial incentives of the IRA aim to speed this transition. The webinar will also review different scenarios exploring how homeowners and tenants, as well as households of various income levels, might take advantage of IRA incentives.
