Did you know that you can play a role in monitoring the health of streams in Arlington?
It’s true! With a little training, thanks to Arlington County’s macroinvertebrate monitoring program, you too can become a stream monitor.
So, what does a stream monitor do?
Stream monitors visit a monitoring site three times a year with their team and collect data on the health of Arlington’s streams. After attending the training, you will have the opportunity to join a team to monitor a local stream site. Stream monitors should be able to carry 10 pounds and walk on uneven surfaces, such as rocks in a stream. Monitors also frequently need to bend over, squat down, and then stand back up. Equipment is provided to each monitoring team.
How can you join in on the fun?
